Since 1958, Sutter Center for Psychiatry has been the only not-for-profit psychiatric hospital in the Sacramento region, offering inpatient and outpatient psychiatric, mental health and chemical dependency services to children, adolescents and adults. Silva Stowell provided design and planning services for a 10,000 sf addition to create new treatment areas and a new outpatient entry for outpatient access to educational spaces on the 5.2 acre site. Two single-story additions to the patient room wings increased the facility's inpatient capacity to 77 licensed beds.
